costume parade at mother's day out...

Maddie and her friends at mother's day out program dressed up today for their costume parade... it was pretty much adorable. Seriously, what's cuter than two-year olds in silly costumes? Not much.

I tried to get some pictures of Maddie in the front of our house before we left, but of course... as always it was nearly impossible. This was the only one with her eyes at least looking at the camera. Oh well, we will try again soon.

buckeyes for cici...

posing with the buckeyes

hugging the buckeyes

Patting the buckeyes

Kevin and Maddie went outside to play the other day and they discovered our buckeye tree was covered with buckeyes!! They spent about an hour hunting and picking these buckeyes and when they came inside to show momma their bounty Maddie without hesitation announced they were "CiCi's buckeyes" and have been referred to as CiCi's ever since.

murray state homecoming parade...

This year the homecoming parade was a big hit... Can't believe this is our third year to take Maddie.

Maddie's very favorite... the mascots. Dunker, Air Dunker and Racer One.

"wooooooowwww"

Of course there was lots of sugar involved :)

She was thrilled to get a balloon... it was a big deal.

Some of the sirens were loud.

"biiiiiggg bus"... she thinks everything is a "big bus" even the little postal trucks.

Candy collecting...

There were quite a few interesting floats... like this one here were these guys felt like they needed to wear cheer leading outfits, hmmmm. Overall it was awesome, Maddie was really into checking everything out. We went to tent city later and Maddie had her face painted for the first time, she loved it.

This was Maddie's first encounter with bubble wrap... she was a little shy at first but as soon as we put on her rain boots she was good to go. Lots of bubble dancing.

maddie gets kicked...

We had a sad day at mother's day out today :(
Right before I came to pick Maddie up a little boy was excited to see his momma walk through the door and started a kicking happy dance. Unfortunately, Maddie was not in on the happy dance moves and was kicked in the head right above her right eye. Needless to say, by the time I got there she was hysterical(which is not like her) and the momma bear came out in me a little. Even though I know it was no ones fault. Maddie instantly started crying and muttering... "kick, Hank, boo boo, sad, I sorry". I informed her when we got home that she didn't need to be sorry and that momma would spank Hank, lol... then I realized what I was saying to her. I then changed my tune to forgiveness and all that good stuff... I'm not ready for this phase of motherhood. The picture doesn't do her "kick" justice, but you get the idea... the next day it was bruised. My poor little girl.

Nature Station Fun

No, this is not Emily. This is her lesser half and second in command taking over for a Saturday afternoon post. This is my first attempt into the blogging world, so please bear with me. Emily and 'Mar (Grandmother) decided to go to Clarksville today for some shopping. Maddie and I tend to not be the best, or most patient, shoppers. We decided to take advantage of the beautiful fall day and head over to the Nature Station in Land Between the Lakes. Maddie has been once before and loved it, so we thought we would try it again. Below are some of our pictures.

Maddie is enjoying some Juice while checking out this Turkey. Gobble Gobble!!

We really enjoyed this Screech Owl, or as Maddie would call it, "Baby Owl". As you can see from the picture she is being a little bit bossy. She is telling the owl that it needs to get a drink of water.

Turtle Power!!

As you have probably seen in previous posts, Maddie is obsessed with organizing toys and putting them in what she deems "proper order". So we did some lining up of various bugs and puzzle pieces. Lately when trying to play with Maddie or help her in her sorting she becomes quite dominant. If it doesn't meet her expectations then you will receive a firm, "My Turn!! My Turn!!" I think she has a future as a Quality Engineer.

No Fear!! This little girl has no fear of this slithering reptile. I wish I would have gotten some more pictures of her with the venomous snakes, but alas this is all that I got. She is enjoying a lollipop that she earned by playing a butterfly game. Blue, of course. You can see that she has a special owl necklace around her neck. We did an art project and made this masterpiece. Well, I may have been the lead designer, but my sweet daughter was there for moral support.

We had a great time, although we did miss our mommy. We hope to be making another trip to the Nature Station in the near future. I'm sure once Baby Jack is here, Mommy will request (and Daddy will gladly accept) some alone time with the new baby.

Well that's about it for my first entrance into the blogging world. Maybe I will join you again in the future.

fall on the farm...

We live right across the street from Murray State's arboretum and greenhouse so every year when they have their "fall on the farm" festivities we are right there!! It's packed with all kinds of fun things like massive tube slides, a corn pit, a petting zoo, pony rides, a corn maze and other things like milking cows. Here are a few... well, more than a few pictures from the day.

Daddy explaining that this wasn't a horse.

We found Wilbur and apparently we are petting his bum.

"Hi rabbit... come on ducks"

Maddie was VERY vocal with all the animals in the petting zoo, she mainly told them what to do... she's going to make a great big sister. HA!

After this calf stepped on her foot we were all done with the animals.

We asked Maddie SEVERAL times about wanting to ride the pony and everytime she responded with a "PEEEEAS". However, just like the two previous years before the second she started to get on the pony she clung to her daddy for dear life. So, what did we do...

We walked beside "Pete".

I love her face here... "Seriously dad, you wanted me to do what?"

One of the massive tube slides.

Last year Kevin made her go down the slide the first time and she then wanted to go again and again. This year he didn't have to make her go down the slide and when he asked her if she wanted to go again she replied with a "No, thank you!!"

Maddie got to paint two pumpkins this year.

It was very serious business.

The finished product.

Just in case there was any confusion.

The corn pit was by FAR the highlight of her day...

More corny fun...

Do not all mothers think their daughters are SO beautiful?

Covering those toes.

This is Maddie's "What are you going to do if I try to eat this" face...

Thankfully she spit it out... Ewwwww!!

Dads are so much fun :)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When we got home later that day Kevin and I made a bet as to how much corn we would find in her diaper. I guessed 7 pieces and Kevin guessed 15 pieces. Needless to say... we were both way off... That's right a whopping 46 pieces stuck in that diaper. That must have been comfy.
