fall on the farm...

We live right across the street from Murray State's arboretum and greenhouse so every year when they have their "fall on the farm" festivities we are right there!! It's packed with all kinds of fun things like massive tube slides, a corn pit, a petting zoo, pony rides, a corn maze and other things like milking cows. Here are a few... well, more than a few pictures from the day.

Daddy explaining that this wasn't a horse.

We found Wilbur and apparently we are petting his bum.

"Hi rabbit... come on ducks"

Maddie was VERY vocal with all the animals in the petting zoo, she mainly told them what to do... she's going to make a great big sister. HA!

After this calf stepped on her foot we were all done with the animals.

We asked Maddie SEVERAL times about wanting to ride the pony and everytime she responded with a "PEEEEAS". However, just like the two previous years before the second she started to get on the pony she clung to her daddy for dear life. So, what did we do...

We walked beside "Pete".

I love her face here... "Seriously dad, you wanted me to do what?"

One of the massive tube slides.

Last year Kevin made her go down the slide the first time and she then wanted to go again and again. This year he didn't have to make her go down the slide and when he asked her if she wanted to go again she replied with a "No, thank you!!"

Maddie got to paint two pumpkins this year.

It was very serious business.

The finished product.

Just in case there was any confusion.

The corn pit was by FAR the highlight of her day...

More corny fun...

Do not all mothers think their daughters are SO beautiful?

Covering those toes.

This is Maddie's "What are you going to do if I try to eat this" face...

Thankfully she spit it out... Ewwwww!!

Dads are so much fun :)

When we got home later that day Kevin and I made a bet as to how much corn we would find in her diaper. I guessed 7 pieces and Kevin guessed 15 pieces. Needless to say... we were both way off... That's right a whopping 46 pieces stuck in that diaper. That must have been comfy.

poms all around...

We have had these tissue poms around the house for the past few months that were leftover from a baby shower so... I finally got around to putting them up in Maddies' room. The pictures aren't great... they look much cuter in person. She walked in her room and said "Woooooow". High praise from a two year old :)

1 point for momma...

My daughter burped today(which she never really does) and immediately after she responded with a "skews me". I must be doing something right... awesome!!

Maddie gets a haircut...

This is Maddies' first haircut... well the first one she remembers. Mrs. Linda Mayhew gave her very first one when Maddie was just over a year old. I didn't know how my very 2-year old would do, but she was fine.... very enthusiastic actually. She loved the two large mirrors to admire herself in, she put on quite the show flirting with herself. Of course there were snacks along the way to keep her buns in the seat. :)

Bribery gets you everywhere...

Unfortunately... it's true. Bribery really does get you everywhere... yesterday I was trying to get a couple of pics of Maddie. I would say "Maddie... look at momma, Maddie... say cheese, Maddie... show me your teeth, Maddie... smile at momma" But alas none of them worked, not really. You can see her enthusiasm in these first few pictures... then I came across a phrase that would work...

"Maddie... do you want some candy? Smile for some candy" I wasn't actually sure she knew what I meant when I had previously asked her to smile. Silly me... of course she knew. Reese's pieces are like gold in this house.

Kiss and tell...

Maddie has decided that she likes frogs... a lot. We've caught her kissing them before but usually it's the same frog or an outdoor(fake) one she spots in somebodies yard. Today as we were getting ready I heard her making a kissy noise in the bath. She's started making this noise to signal "goodbye momma" So I had just assumed she wanted some alone time to either pour water on the floor or one by one throw her toys out of the tub. Neither of which were going to happen but as I turned around to look at her and find out the meaning of this kissy noise, there she was... making out with her tub spout cover... which happens to be a frog... and not on the tub spout. It's pretty stinkin' cute, I assume she got this idea from watching Disney's "Princess and the Frog" but alas, who knows... ah, the mind of a 2-year old.
